The total eclipse of August 12th… from the front row at Las Mimosas del Nalón

There are moments that happen once in a lifetime.
And this will be one of them.

On August 12th, 2026, Asturias will be one of the best places in Europe to experience the total solar eclipse. And from Las Mimosas del Nalón, we will have the privilege of watching it from our own viewpoint and from the terraces of the house, with the Sun slowly setting over the landscape, directly in front of us.

A show that's hard to explain in words.

What time will the eclipse start?

According to the official timetables published by the National Geographic Institute and the forecasts for Asturias, the eclipse will begin around 7:30 PM.

Little by little we will see the Moon begin to cover the Sun as the light changes, the atmosphere becomes quieter and the landscape takes on that strange, magical hue that only occurs during a total eclipse.

The most impressive moment will arrive around 20:27 – 20:30, when we will experience the totality phase. For a few minutes, the Sun will disappear completely and the sky will darken in the middle of the evening.

And it will be at that very moment when the light will be exactly as in this picture: low, golden and falling on the estuary as the Sun begins to hide behind the horizon.

If you want to see how we saw it on April 30th (twin day) can you do it from here

An eclipse at sunset... and that makes it even more special

What makes this eclipse unique is precisely the time of day at which it will occur.

The sun will be very low on the western horizon, creating spectacular light and an atmosphere that is difficult to describe. From Las Mimosas del Nalón, we will have a privileged view of the most important part of the eclipse, with completely clear views of the sunset.

After totality, the Moon will begin to uncover the Sun again and, around 9:15 PM, the Sun will start to hide behind the Atalaya, meaning we will stop seeing the final part of the phenomenon from here.

But the most exciting thing will have already happened before us.

Our favourite way to end the day

If you ask us how we would spend that perfect afternoon, we know exactly.

Enjoy the eclipse from the terrace, letting the sky slowly darken over Asturias… and then head down calmly towards Los Quebrantos Beach around 9:00 PM to watch the final minutes of the eclipse by the sea.

Because some experiences don't need to be rushed.
Only the right place and the perfect moment.

And honestly… we believe this will be one of those memories that will last forever.
