A simple and accessible route that allows children and young people to approach an important chapter of our history while enjoying the privileged environment of the Nal\u00f3n River estuary, Los Quebrantos Beach and San Juan de la Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our aim is not merely to walk. We want participants to observe, question, imagine, and discover. We want them to understand what life was like almost a century ago, to value the importance of preserving our historical heritage, and to learn to look at the landscape with new eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This activity is part of our way of understanding tourism and education: authentic experiences that fuel curiosity, encourage contact with nature, and create memories that last long after returning home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asturias is an extraordinary classroom. And from Las Mimosas del Nal\u00f3n we love sharing it with those who visit us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikiloc.com\/rutas-senderismo\/senda-de-las-trincheras-san-juan-de-la-arena-113194192\">VIEW ROUTE ON WIKILOC<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Trench Route<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here we tell you everything we will discover during this exciting route through the Ran\u00f3n Trenches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hello explorers!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today a very special route. Not only are we going to walk through one of the most beautiful places in the municipality of Soto del Barco, but we are also going to travel back in time to discover how soldiers lived almost 90 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are at the Ran\u00f3n Trenches, a place where history and nature meet in a surprising way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are trenches?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trenches are ditches dug in the ground that soldiers used for protection during wars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine you have to watch over an important area without being seen. Trenches were used for hiding, moving more safely, and defending a position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ones we are going to visit were built during the Spanish Civil War, between the years 1936 and 1937.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why were they built here?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look around you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you see the mouth of the Nal\u00f3n River?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you see San Juan de la Arena and Los Quebrantos Beach?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From this place, a large part of the Asturian coast can be observed. That's why it was a very important strategic point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The soldiers could watch who was approaching by sea or land and give warning if there was danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The lives of soldiers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now let's imagine what it was like to be here many years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were no mobile phones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was no internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were no video games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The soldiers spent many hours on watch, even at night. They had to endure rain, wind, and cold, something we know very well in Asturias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Often they slept in dugouts or in small concrete blockhouses that we can still see today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you look closely, some of the remaining structures are authentic witnesses to that era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Secret Forts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along the route, we will find several small forts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The blockhouses were small concrete structures designed to protect soldiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They had narrow openings to observe the outside and defend the area without exposing themselves too much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can imagine they were like small fortresses hidden amongst the vegetation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The great viewpoint<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now comes one of the best parts of the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let's go closer to the viewpoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From here we can see:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Playa de Los Quebrantos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83c\udfd8\ufe0f San Juan de la Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mouth of the Nal\u00f3n river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The woods and meadows surrounding the whole area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you observe the landscape, think of something curious: the same place we use today to enjoy the views was chosen many years ago because it allowed us to see miles and miles of coastline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A challenge for true explorers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we walk, try to find:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A trench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A stronghold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A place from which to see the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2705 Some seabird.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A plant or flower you don't know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The nature surrounding the trenches is as interesting as the history itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The most important thing about this visit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The trenches remind us of a difficult period in Spain's history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are no longer useful for war today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are useful for learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To remember.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And to understand that places can have many stories to tell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is why it is important to look after them and respect them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are you taking away from this adventure?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A walk through forests and cliffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A trip to the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spectacular views of the Cantabrian Sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the opportunity to discover that history isn't just in books... it's also under our feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now look up, breathe in the sea air and enjoy the scenery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because few routes combine adventure, nature, and history as well as the Ran\u00f3n Trenches. \ud83c\udf3f\ud83c\udf0a\ud83c\udff0\ud83d\ude0a<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>En Las Mimosas del Nal\u00f3n creemos que algunos de los mejores aprendizajes no ocurren dentro de un aula, sino al aire libre, descubriendo lugares que despiertan la curiosidad y ayudan a comprender mejor el mundo que nos rodea. Que comprendan c\u00f3mo era la vida hace casi un siglo, que valoren la importancia de conservar nuestro patrimonio hist\u00f3rico y que aprendan a mirar el paisaje con otros ojos. Esta actividad forma parte de nuestra forma de entender el turismo y la educaci\u00f3n: experiencias aut\u00e9nticas que alimentan la curiosidad, fomentan el contacto con la naturaleza y crean recuerdos que permanecen mucho tiempo despu\u00e9s de regresar a casa. Asturias es un aula extraordinaria. Y desde Las Mimosas del Nal\u00f3n nos encanta compartirla con quienes nos visitan. VER RUTA EN WIKILOC RUTA DE LAS TRINCHERAS A continuaci\u00f3n os contamos todo lo que descubriremos durante esta apasionante ruta por las Trincheras de Ran\u00f3n. \u00a1Hola exploradores! Hoy una ruta muy especial. No solo vamos a caminar por uno de los lugares m\u00e1s bonitos del concejo de Soto del Barco, sino que tambi\u00e9n vamos a viajar en el tiempo para descubrir c\u00f3mo viv\u00edan los soldados hace casi 90 a\u00f1os. Nos encontramos en las Trincheras de Ran\u00f3n, un lugar donde la historia y la naturaleza se unen de una forma sorprendente. \u00bfQu\u00e9 son las trincheras? Las trincheras son zanjas excavadas en el suelo que los soldados utilizaban para protegerse durante las guerras. Imaginad que ten\u00e9is que vigilar una zona importante sin que os vean. Las trincheras serv\u00edan para esconderse, moverse con m\u00e1s seguridad y defender una posici\u00f3n. Las que vamos a visitar fueron construidas durante la Guerra Civil Espa\u00f1ola, entre los a\u00f1os 1936 y 1937. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 las construyeron aqu\u00ed? Mirad a vuestro alrededor. \u00bfVeis la desembocadura del r\u00edo Nal\u00f3n? \u00bfVeis San Juan de la Arena y la Playa de Los Quebrantos? Desde este lugar se puede observar una gran parte de la costa asturiana. Por eso era un punto estrat\u00e9gico muy importante. Los soldados pod\u00edan vigilar qui\u00e9n se acercaba por mar o por tierra y avisar si hab\u00eda peligro. La vida de los soldados Ahora vamos a imaginar c\u00f3mo era estar aqu\u00ed hace muchos a\u00f1os. No hab\u00eda tel\u00e9fonos m\u00f3viles. No hab\u00eda internet. No hab\u00eda videojuegos. Los soldados pasaban muchas horas vigilando, incluso de noche. Ten\u00edan que soportar lluvia, viento y fr\u00edo, algo que en Asturias conocemos muy bien. Muchas veces dorm\u00edan en refugios excavados o en peque\u00f1os fortines de hormig\u00f3n que todav\u00eda podemos ver hoy. Si os fij\u00e1is bien, algunas de las estructuras que quedan son aut\u00e9nticos testigos de aquella \u00e9poca. Los fortines secretos A lo largo de la ruta encontraremos varios fortines. Los fortines eran peque\u00f1as construcciones de hormig\u00f3n dise\u00f1adas para proteger a los soldados. Ten\u00edan aberturas estrechas para observar el exterior y defender la zona sin exponerse demasiado. Pod\u00e9is imaginar que eran como peque\u00f1as fortalezas escondidas entre la vegetaci\u00f3n. El gran mirador Ahora llega una de las mejores partes de la ruta. Vamos a acercarnos al mirador. Desde aqu\u00ed podemos ver: \ud83c\udf0a La Playa de Los Quebrantos. \ud83c\udfd8\ufe0f San Juan de la Arena. \ud83d\udea2 La desembocadura del r\u00edo Nal\u00f3n. \ud83c\udf3f Los bosques y prados que rodean toda la zona. Cuando observ\u00e9is el paisaje, pensad en algo curioso: el mismo lugar que hoy utilizamos para disfrutar de las vistas fue elegido hace muchos a\u00f1os porque permit\u00eda ver kil\u00f3metros y kil\u00f3metros de costa. Un reto para aut\u00e9nticos exploradores Mientras caminamos, intentad encontrar: \u2705 Una trinchera. \u2705 Un fort\u00edn. \u2705 Un lugar desde donde se vea el mar. \u2705 Alguna ave marina. \u2705 Una planta o flor que no conozc\u00e1is. La naturaleza que rodea las trincheras es tan interesante como la propia historia. Lo m\u00e1s importante de esta visita Las trincheras nos recuerdan una etapa dif\u00edcil de la historia de Espa\u00f1a. Hoy ya no sirven para la guerra. Sirven para aprender. Para recordar. Y para entender que los lugares pueden tener muchas historias que contar. Por eso es importante cuidarlos y respetarlos. \u00bfQu\u00e9 os llev\u00e1is de esta aventura?
